Summary
The service works with adults (over 16 years old) with eating and swallowing and/or communication problems associated with:
- Stroke
- Head injury
- Neurological conditions such as Parkinsons, Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis
- Dementia
The service will also see people with voice disorders and stammer/dysfluency.
How to access the service:
1. Referral via GP / Health Professional
A referral can be made to the service by a GP, other health professional.
2. Self Referral
You can also refer yourself for speech and language therapy by filling in the form below:

Referrals can be returned via post to Speech & Language Therapy, Montgomery County Infirmary, Llanfair Road, Newtown, SY16 2DW. Referrals can also be emailed to powys.adultslt@wales.nhs.uk (please password protect the document).
If you refer yourself, the Speech and Language Therapist may need to contact your GP for further information.
For voice problems, the service will require an ENT (Ears, Nose and Throat) report (from within the last six months).
